Newton Wellesley Eating Disorders and Behavioral Medicine provides carefully coordinated, outpatient behavioral health services for individuals suffering from Eating Disorders and their families as well as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for individuals experiencing Anxiety & Depressive Disorders. We also serve those coping with chronic pain and other medical conditions amenable to empirically validated Behavioral Medicine treatments.
N-W Eating Disorders and Behavioral Medicine accepts most major insurance and managed care plans for our behavioral health services provided to individuals 18 years of age and above (who are through their secondary school/high school experience) and their families.
We are not able to accept insurance or managed care payments for individuals younger than 18 years of age, nor for individuals still in the process of their secondary school experience.
Only self-payment is accepted for individuals 15-17 years of age and for eighteen year olds who are still in high school.
We offer individual consultation, individual psychotherapy, couples & family treatment, psychiatric evaluation & psychopharmacologic treatment (for individuals in CBT/psychotherapy in our practice), nutritional counseling and intensive case coordination. Currently, we do not offer group treatments.
Our expert, multidisciplinary clinical team, composed of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and registered dieticians provides outpatient consultation and behavioral health treatment services to individuals suffering from Eating Disorders including Bulimia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorders.
NWEDBMED also provides consultation and treatment services for individuals suffering from a wide range of Anxiety Disorders, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia and other phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), as well as Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Functional GI Disorders (IBS), and for those individuals where stress may have an impact on the course, outcome or onset of a medical condition.
Under the leadership of Dr. Perry Belfer, Director, we have offices at two convenient locations, both on public transportation, in Brookline and Newton Massachusetts with easy access to Boston, Cambridge and the western suburbs as well as to colleges and universities in the Greater Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts area.
