Newton Wellesley Eating Disorders and Behavioral Medicine provides outpatient behavioral health services for individuals with eating disorders and their families.
Our expert, multidisciplinary clinical team, composed of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and registered dieticians provides outpatient consultation and treatment services to individuals 18 years of age and older (and who have graduated from High School) suffering from Bulimia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Compulsive Eating.
Newton Wellesley Eating Disorders and Behavioral Medicine also provides specialized Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Behavioral Medicine services to individuals and their families.
NWEDBMED provides consultation and treatment services for individuals suffering from a wide range of Anxiety Disorders, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia and other phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), as well as Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Functional GI Disorders (IBS), and for those individuals where stress may have an impact on the course, outcome or onset of a medical condition.
Under the direction of Dr. Perry Belfer, Director, we have offices at two convenient locations, both on public transportation, in Newton Centre and Brookline, MA with easy access to Boston, Cambridge and the western suburbs as well as to colleges and universities in the Greater Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts area.
Our outpatient services include:
- Individual confidential patient consultation;
- Consultation to families and health care professionals;
- Individual and family treatment;
- Psychiatric evaluation and psychopharmacologic treatment (see note below);
- Nutritional counseling;
- Case management and treatment coordination.
Psychiatric evaluation and psychopharmacologic treatment (medication management) at NWEDBMED are available only to individuals in psychotherapy in our practice.
